lights and life

in my five years of staying in Singapore, this was the first time i attended the Thaipusam. i was invited to observe and join and i didn't hesitate to join the almost five hours of walk from the starting temple. just sad that i wasn't able to finish it (i was literally 2 kilometres away from the ending temple) because i was exhausted and wasn't physically ready for the walk. it wasn't that long, just that the whole parade was long and we were almost at the end of the parade and the hustle and bustle traffic to consider too. but nevertheless i really enjoyed a one of a kind experience. and this was a late post as it was held January 2013. i've taken a lot of photos but i'll be posting my fave ones.

happy easter

i could not find one that fits Easter celebration though. took this photo yesterday when i went for a planned day out with a girlfriend. we explored Chinatown and the area nearby, we had fun during the entire walk (we were taking photos and walking for almost four hours). few silent moments when we went to the temple though. the photo above was from a Buddhist temple and are offerings. :)

late greeting

i was supposed to post this last night but i wasn't feeling good, had a long day at school and did a favour to a friend. ended up sick and my back is in bad shape. managed to text her early in the morning yesterday and spoke to her today. to make it short, a belated birthday post to the woman i owe my everything to. happy birthday ma! btw, i didn't bake the cupcake. it was made by my baby's mum for her child's birthday :D

happy new year

just came back from my holiday and i must say it was a blast. if it was good the previous year (2009-2010) it was better this year (2010-2011). i tried to make the most out of everything but i have to be honest that i didn't take so much of photos except from my road trip to La Union and Baguio (yay!). i still have a lot of photos to sort but let me welcome myself back to blogging and hopefully i will do better this year compared to last.  happy new year everyone! xx

taken at Palawan Beach, Sentosa
i am so going to the beach!!!!! yay! will be leaving this afternoon and will be off until Thursday! i've been so looking forward to this for the past two weeks. i really need a change of environment for at least a few days. i can imagine myself chilling out under the sun while chugging beer! hahaha! so do you have any idea where am i going?! :D
-----------------------------

i was supposed to post this yesterday upon hearing the sad news. the whole country is mourning and the whole world empathizes with the loss of a woman. for the whole world, she symbolizes democracy and faith. but for me she  exemplifies what a wife and a mother is.

still saddened by the latest news. it's still something unexpected about the demise of an icon...and a legend. i really couldn't help but shed tears while watching the tribute for him.
me and my closest girlfriends love "kaleidoscope world". maybe its the message, or maybe the melody. but for whatever reason it maybe, it's one of our songs. i'd share the lyrics of this song.
Kaleidoscope World
So many faces, so many races
Different voices, different choices
Some are mad, while others laugh
Some live alone with no better half
Others grieve while others curse
And others mourn behind a big black hearse
Some are pure and some half-bred
Some are sober and some are wasted
Some are rich because of fate and
Some are poor with no food on their plate
Some stand out while others blend
Some are fat and stout while some are thin
Some are friends and some are foes
Some have some while some have most
Every color and every hue
Is represented by me and you
Take a slide in the slope
Take a look in the kaleidoscope
Spinnin' round, make it twirl
In this kaleidoscope world
Some are great and some are few
Others lie while some tell the truth
Some say poems and some do sing
Others sing through their guitar strings
Some know it all while some act dumb
Let the bassline strum to the bang of the drum
Some can swim while some will sink
And some will find their minds and think
Others walk while others run
You can't talk peace and have a gun
Some are hurt and start to cry
Don't ask me how don't ask me why
Some are friends and some are foes
Some have some while some have most
Every color and every hue
Is represented by me and you
Take a slide in the slope
Take a look in the kaleidoscope
Spinnin' round, make it twirl
In this kaleidoscope world

in lieu of the Lunar New Year, we went to Chinatown last Saturday to observe the scenario and the crowd since it's most likely the centre for the CNY. so after work, we hurried there and took some pictures around. i was actually hoping for some fireworks, but alas, there is none, and before midnight i was already exhausted. the place is very crowded, with lots and lots and lots of stalls everywhere, selling different kinds of stuffs.

different kinds of candies (with free taste :D)

am not sure if they are pears, haven't asked anyone yet, the writings are in Mandarin, thus it doesn't help :D
pumpkins (i never thought that pumpkins are also a must for CNY)

flowers (name it they have it, sold for at least S$8)

chinese lanterns (lined up everywhere)

bee cheng hiang (bakkwa's a must every Lunar New Year, notice the long queue?)

he is definitely not for sale....such a shame that i wasn't able to snap a picture of his face.
