or was it sunset?! honestly i'm a bit confused with my title as well :D this was taken a few months ago. i've got a couple of sunset pictures of the same day but of different timings. and i know this one was on an earlier time. it's not that dark yet and if i remember it right the sky was a bit pinkish in colour. i really can't seem to get enough of sunset photos.
it's holiday season and i'm getting excited about my vacation ( uuwi ako! yey!). this might be my last post for the year as i promised myself to surf the net less while on vacation. have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year ahead! :D

it's a full moon tonight! or so i thought :D can't help but be engrossed with it again. i've been eyeing the moon since Monday although i haven't got the chance to take a picture of it. i've been keeping a mental note to myself that i need another full moon shot :D i'm quite happy that the sky is clear, almost spotless except for the moon.

since it's end of term party in school, parents brought in a lot of food (some savoury and most are sweets). today, one parent brought in yam cake. i am actually not familiar with this food, that i had to google it. although it was actually yam and pumpkin cake according to the mum. it's my first time to eat this cake and since we had a lot of sweets this week, it was nice to feel a different flavour in the mouth. i've actually never seen a cake topped with chilis, spring onions and dried prawns. and the cake was bought in Classic Cakes. :)
enjoy the moon and the cake :D have a lovely weekend everyone. Sky watch entries are found here.

it certainly looks like a star (not the five-point type). and nope, i didn't position it to look like that nor try to open that fruit (?!) to make a shape of a star. and honestly, i don't know what fruit from that tree is. i found it just like that when i went out to cover the slides at the playground. ate d thought it was star anise but definitely it is not. if you know what kind of fruit is it, please do let me know :)

i ended my busy week last week by chilling out with pasta, pizza, buffalo wings and beers. i went with a friend to chill out at Breko's in Holland Village. since we met up after work, we were so hungry for dinner that as soon as the pasta came, it went straight to our plates and had finished it off in a matter of minutes before finally realising that i haven't taken a quick snap of it. so as soon as the pizza arrived, my friend immediately grabbed a slice and i quickly took some snapshots of it.

the pizza in different angles:

angle 1

angle 2

it was meatball pizza (it was called "pizza no ball") and was very nice. it's just simply topped with two meatballs per slice and some olives but we were both satisfied. it was good with the heavy cheese toppings too, and the meatball was delicious! :D

after pizza, we ordered buffalo wings. in their menu, they had the spicy wings and buffalo wings. we were contemplating about ordering the spicy wings but the server said buffalo wings were even spicier so that's what we had while chilling out. i didn't realise if it's really spicy because it tastes good too and probably i was already immune with spicy dishes (just a little bit).

all in all i had a very good evening with a happy tummy! :D

Christmas season is here! yeah, i know, i realise it way too late :D well, since the month has started, i've been very busy putting things in order before i leave work for my most awaited vacation. yey! i can't wait to eat and shop for the holiday season! :D

it's the last week in school today, so we're having end of term party for the children. one mum brought the chocolate chip cookies that she had baked at home. i'm not really a cookie fanatic but her cookies are really good! almost sinful! i know i didn't do justice for taking pictures of these yummy cookies but it was hard trying to control the urge to gobble them. it was moist, chocolatey yet sweet enough to keep you craving for a second serving.

these are the ones i saved to bring home (all in all i had five :D) for a little photoshoot :D hope you enjoy them too! :D

i've been running out of titles for my sky watch entries :D hence i've decided to follow suit and just number my sky watch entries from now on. and as you can see, most of my entries are of sunsets and i really can't be redundant naming them all sunsets :D

i took this photo today after i alighted at the MRT. we had a really hot and warm day today so i was practically waiting for sunset :D when i alight at the station, i felt like it was the perfect moment so i happily snapped this photo. it was actually around 7 pm when i had this shot. other lovely sky photos are here. have a lovely weekend everyone! Happy Thanksgiving too!

feeling so much better now! thanks to my online friends!

this picture was taken last week, it was raining almost everyday, weather is so much better although there will still be some rainshowers. i like the reflection in the raindrops, this was from the plants at the ground floor, not from our neighbor's plants. taking a break from sneaking into their plants. :D

yesterday was really a sad day. i was really affected with the death of my pet. today wasn't really a fantastic day but i'm feeling much better.
i took this photo today on my way home while waiting for the bus. it's like one of those days when you just look up and see beautiful colours at the sky. it was really beautiful, and i couldn't let it pass without trying to capture it. even if it means i need to wait for another bus because my bus left when i was happily snapping this picture. so much for being engrossed! :)

i have never owned a pet animal in my entire life until i adopted kenken. i've always avoided having pets because it would mean commitment. i don't like obligations and responsibilities. although things have changed when i adopted kenken. i actually named him Kenshin (from my fave anime character). he's a snob and a spoiled brat. whenever i'm home, he'd always sleep with me or hang around with me lying on my tummy or leaning on my legs. he never liked other people except me, mum and grandma. my grandma always tease me that he behaves like me.
this morning, my mum sent me a message. ken came home sick yesterday afternoon. they brought him to a vet and was given medicine. she brought him home and was watching after him. before midnight, my mum was supposed to give him medicine when she noticed he's not moving. he's gone. she asked my uncle to bury him this morning.
i won't be seeing him anymore...i'll be missing him a lot...

just when i thought that the rainy days are over...and yet i was proven wrong. it's been quite rainy these days, although they said that i really should be expecting this kind of weather here at this times. i don't hate rainy days, as a matter of fact i do love it, but sometimes its also frustrating most especially if you have plans of doing activities for a sunny day and yet you have to change it because it would rain.

since it's always a rainy afternoon, i pass by our neighbors plants. i just can't help it but check the euphorbia plants. i like the droplets in the leaves. i most especially like the picture above. it's supposed to be a picture of two big droplets but i accidentally moved the leaves, so the other one's gone. here are the other pictures as well. i have to dispose them again :D

weather was not actually good this week, hence i wasn't able to take any nice pictures with the sky, sunrise or sunset. i was checking all the pictures that i have taken from two months ago and this is what i have found. i couldn't believe i skipped on this picture. :D oh well, good thing it popped out of the screen :D. have a lovely weekend everyone! beautiful sky photos from around the world are here

Monday, November 10, 2008

listening to avril lavigne's song...nope, i am not in a senti mode :D just remembering my fave kid Nica, it's her birthday today. happy birthday Nica!

Saturday, November 08, 2008

this is an area in sunset way, clementi. i always pass by here to and from work. i would like to take a walk in this area but i don't have that much time both in morning and afternoon. the trees are very interesting and i want to know what lies in there (usyusera mode). there's also an old railway passing through these trees. i don't know where it leads to, which reminds me to read the map! :D

my first moon shot here in Singapore taken today. i am just so happy to have one. ever since i left Jakarta, i never had the chance to take pictures of the moon as it is either too far (hehehe) or my camera wouldn't focus well which leaves me very frustrated. have a lovely weekend everyone. other sky photos are found here.

i was never really that fond of wearing a watch. i used to before, but as soon as the battery died from a previous watch of mine, i never bothered replacing a new one. but when i saw this one in a swatch shop, i knew it was love at first sight. hehehe! i love the colours of this watch and the design too! plus factor is that it's cheap as it is actually meant for kids!
it's a sort of accidental shot. i was trying to diffuse the flash but was having a difficult time holding the cam and covering the flash. when i checked it out, i like how vivid the colours are. and it seems like it's a vignette. :D

a follow-up photo of my borobudur post :D. something to post for sky watch. other sky watch photos are here . have a lovely weekend everyone!

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

i was inspired to post some pictures from my last "adbentyur" in Indonesia way back in June. we went to Yogyakarta (pronounced: Jogjakarta) and visited the largest Buddhist temple in Borobudur. i have already posted my best picture in this entry . this is on the other side of the temple. inside those huge bells are buddhas which can be touched. it was a sight to behold at the temple though be prepared to climb up at least a hundred steps to reach the top.

it was a really a nice experience going there and checking the whole temple as there are stone sculptures by the wall which tells the story of the temple (too bad we weren't really listening to the tour guide). it was a sight to behold at sunrise. i've seen a couple of photographers who arrived very early to set up. and i thought we were early at 5:30 there!

if you'd like to find out more about Borobudur you can check here. i'm not much of a good story teller by the way! :D

Monday, October 27, 2008

i keep on taking pictures of our neighbor's plants. hehehe. if their front door is closed, and it's still early, i'd go take my camera and take pictures. i have to practice because i know that i'm still not good in taking flower pictures. i am still trying to do vignette, i just have to keep on practicing, just please bear with me!

i haven't posted for sky watch for the past few weeks. i couldn't get any sunset shots as it is always cloudy in the afternoon. besides they are my favourite pictures to post for sky watch. :D but i am just glad that i was able to get a nice sunrise photo from last week. i rarely get to take pictures of sunrise as i need to go to work early.
as you notice, it is quite a cloudy sunrise as well as some dark clouds are forming and threatening the brightness of the day. the rest of the day was cloudy, it just gave way to a nice sunrise as if giving me the chance to take a quick shot of it. :D have a lovely weekend! wonderful sky photos are found here

the other day i received an email from a friend about apples. yeah, it was just a mass email. well, the content of the mail says that beware in eating the skin of the apple because it is covered in wax. to quote, "wax is used for preservation purposes and cold storage". it even has pictures of the apple being scraped by a cutter. i didn't believe it, i love eating apples with it's skin and i am washing it before eating. though yesterday at work, we gave it a try. we scraped the skin gently to prove that there isn't wax on the apple. 'lo and behold, the apple is really covered with a thin layer of wax! we were quite paranoid about it. but a colleague asked, "how long have you been eating apples with it's skin?! if it's really dangerous, you should be dead by now!" makes sense right?! we ended up laughing and eating the apple by the way! hehehe! that wax will be digested anyways!
so when i went home today and found apples on the table, i washed them and tried posing them in front of the camera. does it look delicious to eat?! i just had to make little adjustments to make them more appealing, hehe! and it is quite effective because i am eating my second apple right now! :D

"stealing 50 cars in one night, is that really possible?" i should've seen the movie when it was shown in the big screen eight years ago, i would've really enjoyed it. but then, i was torn between x-men and this one and i chose the former (it's x-men! duh!). although, what was i thinking that i have missed a number of years before finally remembering to watch the movie? though it made me appreciate it more now. i love Memphis and Eleanor's moments!

well, the reason is quite obvious why i appreciate the movie now. no, i don't know how to drive and yes, i own those cars in the above picture. it's around two-thirds of my entire "collection". the movie made me miss them a lot since they're home and i am not :'( but i'd be seeing them really soon and i am keeping a mental note of taking a picture of all of them. the movie gave me an idea though. it would be easier to remember the car if you name it right? so, i'm thinking of naming them one by one. and that will be really fun! name suggestions are welcome! :D

i've been a bum this week. i had a very busy schedule too. busy from playing, surfing, watching movies, and sleeping! :P that's all i did for five days. i practically stayed inside my room and just stepped out of the house twice and for not more than 30 minutes. it feels so good to just do nothing but enjoy the week's break from work.
the flower above is the result of what i am "learning" from my vice :D. i was trying to do vignette but i don't think i made it properly, hence i just had a "frame" for the flower that i caught this afternoon when i went to work for our prep work. the flowers are tiny again as i am trying to practice macro shooting too :D still have a lot of things to learn!

Tuesday, October 14, 2008

i'm a very big fan of Japanese food. i just can't enough of them most especially the sushi and sashimi. i love the salmon and tuna sashimi. a good sashimi like this will melt into your mouth. yumyum. most people are not fond of eating raw meat, but with this one, i can probably eat this everyday (as long as the meat is class A). i used flash here to have the colour come out then did some adjustments. don't you just love the colour of the salmon? me, i like! :D

Sunday, October 12, 2008

this was months old photo. we had our coffee at a cafe in Jakarta. if i remember it right, this is a frap topped with different kinds of nuts. the area was quite dark and if i am not using the flash, the picture is too yellowish and noisy too. so what i did was to cover the flash with the folded napkin (i've read about that kind of technique from flickr). i have forgotten about the picture until i opened the folder again. i did some playing again, i tried the 'orton' effect but i don't think it was a succesful attempt. nevertheless, i'm still satisfied with the result! :D this frap is really a yummy one!

whew! what a very busy week for me. a very exhausting week! this is an old photo that i took way back on our trip to yogyakarta (pronounced as jogjakarta). it was in a buddhist temple. lotus was quite far from me, about half a meter i guess so i had to use zoom for this shot. and did some cropping as well. i am not sure if the insects are bees or wasps. they are about a centimetre long. the more prominent one is in flight, i had never notice that before. i haven't made any sky shots for this week, i'll try to post one tomorrow.

Friday, October 03, 2008

it was a very busy week for me so i never had the chance to take photos of the sky. although to be honest, i was quite lazy to do so as well. this was the last sunset photo that i had upon leaving Jakarta last June taken from the balcony of our 19th floor apartment. it was taken the same day i had with the blue moon. other sky photos are found here. Have a lovely weekend everyone!

running out of ideas to do with the wild flowers. i took this shot on the playground and was trying to maximize the macro capacity of my old cam. then took the opportunity to practice basic editing skills. am quite happy...and i need improvement!

Singapore held its first Night Race ever in the history of Formula One racing. the bleachers and race track on the prep day...

the race track...

we went to check the practice (Fri, 26th Sept). from the dozens of photos that we took, none came out that good. i even tried to video it but it didn't came out good as well. i was never a follower of the F1 although i know some drivers. but the moment i've seen the preparations and heard the racing cars, i couldn't help but get excited and feel the adrenaline rush!

i don't know who the drivers are, but i am just so excited!!!

i love taking photos of the moon. unfortunately i haven't had the chance to take photos lately. this shot was taken few months ago before leaving Jakarta. it was funny because it was late in the afternoon when we saw the moon and decided to press the shutter because rarely do i get the chance to picture the moon against the blue sky.
